PROPHECY WINES

SOURCING WINES

Prophecy sources from premier growing regions around the world to craft our wines. Regions are chosen for their climate, soil, and the ability to best showcase each grape’s defining characteristics.

New Zealand

Winemaking began in the late 19th Century in New Zealand, grew substantially in the mid-20th Century, and absolutely exploded in the last 20 years. It is now known as the Sauvignon Blanc capital of the world. Prophecy Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from Marlborough, an area drenched in sunshine and cooled by maritime breezes. Planted in glacial, well-drained soil, Sauvignon Blanc thrives here, bringing vibrant fruit, complex character, and a well-developed acidity to the wine.

France

Southern France winemakers have been crafting Rosé style wines for more than 2,600 years. The area’s diverse geography, winding rivers, and Mediterranean coast produce grapes that thrive in the long, warm summers and crisp, cooling winds. Our Rosé is sourced from some of its finest growing regions including Rhône varieties like Cinsault and Grenache, as well as other native French varieties. The result is a delicate and bright wine with layers of fresh strawberries, raspberries and a hint of white peach.

Italy

Our Pinot Grigio offers a glimpse into the classic wines of Northeastern Italy, where the grape flourishes against the backdrop of the region’s stunning landscape. The high-altitude vineyards lie in the shadow of snow-capped mountains and vines that thrive in the cool air climate of the Adriatic Coast, resulting in elegant and crisp Pinot Grigio wines with citrus characteristics, delicate hints of white flowers and signature minerality.

California

We source our Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon from Yolo and San Joaquin County, located within the Central Coast. Known for its warm summers, the area also has a fog layer that rolls in from the coast just about every morning providing ideal growing conditions for Pinot Noir, which you can taste in the plush and smooth layers of red cherry and strawberry and notes of brown spice. While the low rainfall and ample sunlight results in a bold and smooth Cabernet Sauvignon with layers of blackberry, raspberry, and plum.

Washington

We source Zinfandel and Merlot from Eastern Washington State’s Columbia Valley, located in the shadow of the Cascade Mountains, as well as from one of California’s premiere wine making regions, Lodi, California, to create our Red Blend. It’s an intriguing combination that results in a truly unique and distinctive blend with notes of ripe fruit, balance and full body from California and a trademark acidity from Washington’s long sunshine filled days which provide an primal growing environment for Zinfandel and Merlot.

So there you have it. A little background into the distinct wine growing regions from around the world that are used in Prophecy wines. Next time you enjoy a glass, think of the region and all of the factors that went into the wine. You’re truly tasting a unique place in every glass.
